Nipsey’s commitment to his community was legendary and the episode with Slauson Bruce encapsulates his ability to touch others where it matters most. The fact that Bruce expressed unconditional love for Nip and “the whole crew” prior to the spree speaks volumes about his impact and what he accomplished by simply giving back.
Unapologetically Black, Nipsey’s interest in the hood shone through a variety of investments that he built on the same corner he grew up. He developed a brand in “Crenshaw” that is now as iconic as the store it was sold in. He was a marketing genius who disrupted the tech industry with a revolutionary co-working tech space and STEM center in the Crenshaw district. He was a loving father, a husband and he’d only begun to show his true genius to the world.
The good thing is, Slauson Bruce, The Marathon Clothing employees, his true fans, followers and family recognized his legend clearly and consistently.
The Marathon will certainly continue.
RIP Nip.
