5 New Year’s resolutions for introverts

4.
Last year: Be more adventurous, travel and see the world.
Revised: See the world the way you want to see it — literally or figuratively.

Seeing the world can mean hopping on a plane and traveling to another continent, or it can mean experiencing new things that help you grow. Move your body in a new way through karate, tai chi, line dancing, running, bowling or improv. Take classes in CPR, swimming, a new language, bourbon tasting, meditation, or motorcycle riding. Draw, paint, sculpt, write, sing — what’s in your head — and let it flow without self-judgment. Expose yourself to the arts, comedy, a new cuisine or volunteering.

It adds to your personal brand.

5.
Last year: Get a promotion, raise or bonus.
Revised: Fine-tune and focus on the traits that make you special, then use them to get what you want.

Use your keen skills of observation, listening, analysis and empathy to help your company reach its goals.  You’re creative, so get those great ideas out of your head and package them in a cool way like a word cloud, a photo, a comic book, a rhyme, or just an email.  Then share confidently and consistently.

It adds to your value proposition.

According to daysoftheyear.com, Jan. 2 is World Introvert Day. Recharge and re-energize after the nonstop socialization of the holidays. Do absolutely nothing for part of the day, or do something you love. Introversion is something to celebrate, so wave the flag proudly, or don’t say a word.  It’s up to you, but know that you are perfect just as you are.
