The COVID-19 outbreak has taken a toll on the market. What kind of advice can you provide to those nervous about their investments and 401(k) plans?
I urge everyone to be long-term investors. Volatile times like now will be forgotten, and stocks will rebound and continue to grow over time. The market definitely fluctuates a lot, but it always goes higher over the long run. Warren Buffett always preaches about being long-term investors, and that if you invested $10,000 in the S&P 500 in 1942, you’d have $51 million today. The market always goes back up, so if anything, look at this as a buying opportunity to invest in some cheaper assets.
What would you say are the top three things someone should consider when investing?
When it comes to investing:
- Invest long-term. Stocks will always increase over the long-term.
- Buy low and sell high.
- Don’t be an emotional investor. Don’t let short-term volatility distract you from your long-term goals.
