How can Black women change the narrative of negative stereotypes as it pertains to themselves?
By exemplifying excellence at all times in both their personal and professional lives. The best way to eradicate stereotypes is to replace them with positive images that convey eloquence, sophistication, and excellence. These images would truly depict the essence of our womanhood.
What historical women organizations do you belong to or admire?
I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Whether assisting with coat drives or serving the homeless, women of DST are always advocating for the underserved and underrepresented. Most recently, a few of my line sisters and I celebrated our 26th Deltaversary in Nashville, TN. During our visit, we volunteered to assist the American Red Cross in response to the tornado disasters there. It was our duty to assist, not only because our assistance was needed, but because we are members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a public service sorority.
As a woman #HERstory historymaker, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to embody purpose, selflessness, and empowerment. As an educator, I have been blessed to find my destiny while leading others to theirs.
