Coming 2 America has a new release date on its new Amazon Studios platform.

Originally scheduled for release in December, the highly anticipated sequel will premiere on March 5, 2021. In October, Amazon Studios acquired the film rights from Paramount Studios.

At the conclusion of the original film, Akeem (Eddie Murphy) married his Queens, New York-born sweetheart Lisa (Shari Headley). In 2021, he is the newly crowned king and will embark on an all-new adventure with his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall). Coming 2 America also stars James Earl Jones, John Amos and Louie Anderson. The original cast is joined by Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, KiKi Layne, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor.

The original film premiered in 1988 starring Murphy as Prince Akeem. The runaway hit grossed $288 million worldwide.

Craig Brewer directs the film for Paramount Pictures in association with New Republic Pictures. Eddie Murphy Productions and Misher Films serve as producers.
