Shmurda also revealed in the interview that when he dropped his hit single “Hot N—-“ in 2014, he wasn’t taking music seriously at all despite signing a seven-figure deal before his criminal drama unfolded. He had barely turned 20 when his career took off, the rapper born Ackquille Jean Pollard admitted that it was the money and women that pulled him toward the mic and he didn’t really see his impact until he was convicted.
“I didn’t really care too much for it until I went to jail and I seen [sic] how the fans were loyal,” added Shmurda. “I can’t name a week that I didn’t see at least 10 [pieces] of fan mail, throughout the whole bid.”
Shmurda also told GQ that besides getting back in the studio, he plans to invest in real estate and that he spent a lot of his time learning about taxes and purchasing property.
