“I was always an artsy guy. I would go outside and stuff, but I would mainly sit at the table and draw, and I think that translated. I think I wrote my first rap in middle school, but I wasn’t rapping it out loud, I was just writing it down and getting my bars together and s—. But I’d say it was around the time T.I. dropped Trap Muzik was when I decided to get serious about it. It was Southern, and it was simplistic. Southerners have a simplistic style about them, so that kind of allowed me to take that and build my own style on it,” Grip also told Complex.
