For the first time, actress Stacey Dash admits that she was addicted to powerful prescription pain medication that contributed greatly to her bottoming out as a person and professional.
Dash, 54, who is most famous for starring in the hit 1995 comedy Clueless, explained on the “Dr. Oz” show on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, that she was in the clutches of the pain killers Vicodin for years.
“I’m clean five years and in this five years, my greatest blessing is that not only have I been able to be honest with myself and become a better person. But I’ve been able to understand my parents and that they did love me and that they were doing the best they could and that they were just sick. They were addicted,” she said.
Dr. Oz asked Dash just how bad said, “I was taking 18 to 20 pills a day.”
“That’s expensive,” said Dr. Oz, to which Dash replied, “Yeah, I lost everything.”
Prior to her appearance on the daytime talk show, Dash thanked the Creator for ushering her through that tumult, thus enabling her to grow astronomically as a person.
“I will be sharing my deepest, darkest secret. I thank the Lord for being able to say that I have grown more over the last 5 years than I have in my entire life,” she penned on Facebook.
“I am so blessed to be surrounded by people who have loved and supported me through my most challenging time.”
Dash also explained how she was an angry person as an adult. She was mostly maligned for her tenure as a contributor on Fox News where she routinely denigrated former President Barack Obama and transgender people.
“I’m not homophobic. I’m not racist. I was just angry and it benefited me,” she told Dr. Oz.
