As the profits from music and social media pour in, the artist is investing his considerable assets in real estate. Recently, danny G visited rolling out to discuss his career.

How does it feel to be on the verge of a national tour?

I’m feeling good.

Obviously, a little nervous. You just never know what to expect. I think we’ve got a solid little fan base going, so I think people are going to be coming out, but [I’m] just nervous and excited at the same time. It’s that nervous energy and I’m pumped to play, man.

One of the hottest rappers in hip-hop right now is Jack Harlow. When someone who looks like Jack comes up in hip-hop, the same conversation about race in the genre returns. What has your experience of being a White rapper been like?

I was more of a singer until maybe two years ago. So coming up, I was just a singer and just in the choir and stuff like that. I think it’s tough, [but] you just need to study, understand the game, understand where it came from, and why hip-hop is what it is and pay respects. I think the times people run into problems with that is … when they don’t know or they’re not educated on hip-hop. They don’t know where the genre came from and they’re just trying to ride the wave.

Do you know who Ray J’s sister is?

Oh my gosh, yes, I saw that interview! He (Harlow) didn’t know?

He didn’t know. Well. he knew who she was, but didn’t know that was Ray J’s sister.

Crazy.

But do you know who Ray J’s sister is?

Now I’m forgetting.

I’m not going to get it. Who is it?

Are you sure?

Yeah, just say it. I’m not going to get it.

It’s Brandy.

Oh my gosh and I saw that interview.

Biggie’s famous words were “Mo Money Mo Problems.” How do you feel about that statement?

I kind of agree. Like, I see it, even the micro version I’ve had with followers on TikTok. I get a lot of praise on TikTok, but also now, I get a couple of hundred hate comments every day, like that’s what you get and so that’s kind of a “more money, more problems” thing. Yeah, everything’s great, but the negative also just becomes that much stronger when you’re on that platform.
