Ivory Scott is stepping into the spotlight.
The Chicago-based producer and songwriter has become an influential figure behind the scenes in music. Scott has contributed to numerous chart-topping hits in multiple genres, including “Baddest” featuring Chris Brown, “Lose” featuring Lil Wayne and “Bitter” with Latto. Scott says he has also worked as a songwriter for Beyoncé based on an interview he had with Baller Alert.
He recently hosted an EP release party on Oct. 23, for his debut project, Before Ebony. It marks a turning point in his career, coming out of the shadows to become an artist in his own right.
In an exclusive interview with rolling out, Scott discussed his excitement about the EP.
Was this the vibe you were expecting for your EP release party?
This was the vibe I was looking for. There is good energy, and everyone seems to be f—ingwith the records, so we are excited to drop Before Ebony. This is just a taste, it’s a teaser. There’s much more to come.
What message were you hoping to convey?
I wanted to paint a picture of something that would last forever.
What was it like collaborating with Queen Naija, Sukihana, OG Parker and Hitmaka?
It feels good. Hitmaka and OG Parker are my family, and I have so many hits with them already. It’s full circle for me to have records out as an artist myself.
How does it feel to be known as a versatile music creative?
My dad always told me, if one man can do it, then you can do it. Nothing is impossible, and we can try anything as long as we are willing to try.
What can fans expect from the project?
You can expect everything. It’s going to have a little bit of Afrobeats, R&B, hip-hop, and basically every genre. It’s going to be filled up with everything you need when it comes to music. Stay tuned, Before Ebony is on the way.
