LSU star Angel Reese got entangled in a post-game verbal kerfuffle with an assistant coach from UCLA whom the Tigers defeated to earn a spot in the Elite Eight.
The self-proclaimed Bayou Barbie deposited a double-double in the Tigers’ continued quest for a second consecutive national championship. But it was the pop off off after the game that generated all the headlines.
Reese’s response was quick, saying her clapback during the handshake line after the game was not directed at UCLA head coach Cori Close.
“She told me good game,” Reese said postgame of Close. “It was another coach that was talking a little crazy.”

Angel Reese shouted at the UCLA bench after fouling out
The postgame skirmish of words may have emanated from Reese barking something toward the UCLA bench after she fouled out of the game with 30 seconds left. The Bruins head coach was animated afterward, wondering why Reese didn’t earn a technical foul.
Reese finished the game with 16 points, 11 rebounds and one assist. The No. 3 seeded LSU Tigers will play archrival Iowa Hawkeyes in Albany, New York, in a rematch of the national championship from a year ago.
Angel Reese got the headlines, but Flau’jae Johnson got the points
Guard Flau’jae Johnson was the hero of the LSU-UCLA match up by scoring a game-high 24 points in the contest on 7-of-11 shooting, including 2-of-2 mark from the 3-point line.
“I’ve been focused. I’ve been in the gym. I’ve been locked in,” Johnson said, according to ESPN. “Every day I’m in the gym putting in that work, every day. Because I know people are going to discredit me because I rap and I hoop, so I know I’ve got to go extra hard. So that’s what I do, I be [sic] in the gym.”
In the end, LSU got the win and to the victor go the spoils.
