Crystal Renay says her ex-husband Ne-Yo told her he was cheating on her without really telling her.
While sitting in with “The Breakfast Club” radio show on Thursday, April 11, to promote her new We-tv reality show, “Bold & Bougie,” the 38-year-old businesswoman revealed it was actually a conversation they’d had with the “Sexy Love” singer that tipped her off.
“Remember when y’all asked him the question, would he be OK not knowing if his partner was cheating? And he was like, ‘I would live in a blissful bubble,'” Renay reminded the crew.
She said his response to that question made her wonder about his actions if he could still be happy even when given the scenario of her cheating on him.
“Uhn uhn, something ain’t right,” she says she thought to herself. “Is that how he wants me to think?’”
“I found everything that I needed to find that day, and I left,” she said after revealing she found solid evidence of his cheating in “a phone.”
During a 2022 interview with the culture-shifting iHeartRadio morning show, Ne-Yo gave his thoughts on infidelity when posed the question.
“The truth is rarely pretty,” the award-winning singer/songwriter said. “If I wake up every morning and breakfast is cooked, my kids is taken care of, every time we around each other we smiling and happy, and things are blissful and then on my deathbed somebody tell me you been cheating on me my whole life, I lived a pretty good damn life.”
Last month Renay told PEOPLE that she’s much happier these days and she’s thankful to God for the “redirection” to see the bigger picture.
“Sometimes we can’t see the bigger picture and what may or may not be for us and in this situation, clearly it wasn’t a place for me to be in any longer, and I’m OK with that,” she told PEOPLE.
“I’m happy for myself because I chose my self-worth. I chose to stand up for myself and walk away from something that just wasn’t serving me any longer.”
The former couple were officially divorced in February 2023.
