Rapper Jay-Z has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl at a party back in 2000, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court on Dec. 9. It is stated that he was raping this young girl alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs. Jay-Z attacked the case on social media, claiming it was a “blackmail attempt” by the plaintiff’s attorney and disputed the accusations. Jay-Z‘s attorneys did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
If you remember back when Diddy was first arrested, lawyer Tony Buzbee claimed there were dozens of celebrities who were also engaging in debauchery during the Diddy parties, and their names would soon be brought to life.
The first of these names might be the biggest. Although the revised lawsuit claims that Jay-Z was named as “Celebrity A” on the original complaint, the action was initially filed in October in the Southern District of New York and did not mention Jay-Z as a defendant at that time. Buzbee claimed this was because he wanted to settle out of court with Jay-Z and the victim, and apparently Jay-Z refused.
In his statement, Jay-Z claimed Buzbee had sent his lawyer a “demand letter” before the lawsuit became public.
“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee. What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle,” Jay-Z said.
“No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!” he added.
In his response, the rap legend questioned why the filing was a civil lawsuit rather than a criminal filing, stating if these claims were true the accused should absolutely sit in jail.
“Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case,” Jay-Z wrote.
Jay-Z went on to address the fact that his family — including his kids more specifically Blue Ivy — will hear about this because she is of age and that is completely unfair to her.
“My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people,” he wrote.
He ended his statement with “I look forward to showing you exactly how different I am.”
