Apollo Nida responds to claims he tried to scam charity

Apollo Nida has once again been accused of shady behavior; this time by a charity. According to Chase DeCarlo, Nida tried to shake him down for $2,000 when he was invited to attend a charity function for battered women. DeCarlo runs the alleged Dio Bambini foundation that also invited Kandi Burruss to attend an event raising money for the fund. DeCarlo recently told RadarOnline that while Burruss agreed to participate for free, Nida asked for money.

“At first I thought he would do it for free,” said DeCarlo. “His people were saying … he wouldn’t mind appearing.”

But that quickly changed says DeCarlo. “At first it was like, ‘OK, I’ll do it for $2,000.’”

Apollo Nida is currently working on a plea deal with federal prosecutors for his fraud and identity theft charges.

DeCarlo says he bargained him down to “about $1,200″ but recently received a contract stating that the $2,000 deal still stands.

The foundation head now says he’s leery about booking Nida considering that the reality star has an upcoming court date on federal fraud charges. “It makes sense why he’s pressuring me and wanting me to book him,” said De Carlo.

Now according to Nida, reports of him attempting to scam the charity are completely false. Phaedra Parks’ husband has released a video defending himself against the claims and instead noting that the alleged foundation is at fault.

“That is totally false,” said Nida. “The $2,000 that was my fee for going wasn’t for profit; it was for lodging, for flight, for food, clothes, etc.”

“For someone to do this to me it’s completely erratic behavior,” added the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” affiliate. “Right now there are circumstances going on that everybody knows about and I’ve got a lot of people supporting me and then you’ve got a lot of haters [and] people who are not supportive.”

Nida then noted that he’s not known for doing “bad business,” even though he’s currently accused of creating fake companies to steal identities, and stopped short of issuing an apology.

“At the end of the day for you to try to mess up a brand like Nida Fitness and Apollo Nida …,” said Nida. “For you to say something and so derogatory … my stuff is official. My wife is an attorney. No one’s ever said Apollo did bad business with them. […] I don’t owe anybody anything. I’ve done nothing wrong.”
