FIRST BIG BREAK:
Pinkett Smith was named Miss Maryland in 1988. Later, Pinkett decided to continue her burgeoning career at the North Carolina School of the Arts before, but she quit after just a year and made a bee-line for Los Angeles to her career in acting. Pinkett Smith was later bestowed the honored of being an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.

Her big break came in 1991 when she was cast in the ballyhooed “The Cosby Show” spinoff television sitcom “A Diff’rent World in 1987.
