West Lands Staggering Number of BET Nominations
If there was any semblance of doubt that BET executives wanted Kanye West to appear with his ‘perfect b—-‘ at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards, then the following should quickly erase all of it. The Chi-town emcee is up for nearly 20 awards at the annual Atlanta awards sh0w; 17 to be exact. Kanye is currently up for MVP of the Year, Video Director of the Year, Lyricist of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video and a slew of others. West was previously slated to appear at the 2012 VMAs, but pulled out reportedly after his girlfriend Kim Kardashain confirmed that she would not be able to attend.
In addition to Kanye, rapper 2 Chainz is dominating in 13 categories for the track “Mercy” with his G.O.O.D. Music with Big Sean, Jadakiss and Pusha T and Chainz’ breakout year in the biz. Performers for this year’s show, which will be taped on Sept. 29 at Atlanta’s Civic Center, have not yet been announced. The show will also feature a tribute to hip-hop impresario Chris Lighty whose suicide shocked the music industry.
