Yes, Laura Govan of “Basketball Wives LA” is the cover feature for this week’s edition of rolling out magazine. And yes, the entire focus for many of you will be the amazing new body that she’s now sporting. But as the photographer on the shoot, the real story to me was the inner beauty that Govan is now working to both accept and emote more consistently.
When the public constantly holds you under a microscope and critiques every imperfection, I can see how one would lose themselves, and begin to doubt whether or not they are in fact beautiful. My time with Laura revealed just that … it revealed a woman who was still coming into her own — one who was still working to reclaim the self confidence that so many women lose after child birth.
But as we delved deeper into our shoot, and I reassured her that she was indeed knocking it out of the park, I begin to see a confident woman emerge. one who not only began to see what I saw through the lens, but who also begin to believe in herself again, and it was a beautiful sight to behold.
