Nicci Gilbert suing TV One over ‘Hollywood Divas’

Nicci Gilbert - Exit Cover

TV One fans may have been thrilled to learn that the network is coming out with an apparent “R&B Divas” spin-off, “Hollywood Divas.” However, “R&B Divas” co-creator and executive producer, Nicci Gilbert, is far from thrilled and she recently sued the network over the new series.

According to TheJasmineBrand.com, Gilbert thinks that “Hollywood Divas,” which will star Elise Neal, Golden Brooks, Countess Vaughn, Paula Jai Parker, and Lisa Wu, is too similar to her own show and its L.A. spin-off.

Gilbert and her production company, NOEGO Entertainment, revealed that they’re suing the network for multiple counts of damages, including breach of contract, fraudulent inducement, negligent misrepresentation, unjust enrichment, punitive damages and defamation among 15 other counts of damages.

TV One has yet to respond to the lawsuit, but if Gilbert’s time on “R&B Divas” was any indication of how fierce and protective an opponent she can be, then we’re sure that the network is in for a major battle over the rights to her brand.
