Born to an Irish mother and African American father, Kim Etheredge grew up having hair issues. She learned how to maintain her hair at an early age. This eventually led to her founding Mixed Chicks with business partner Wendy Levy.
After sharing hair secrets about mixing and matching so many products, they decided to create one product and went to a lab with their favorite products, researched ingredients online, tested samples, and came up with a leave-in conditioner staple product.
With high demand and support from fans, Mixed Chicks expanded from a Web-based business to being sold in more than 3,500 salons and beauty supplies in the U.S., U.K., Caribbean and Europe and 2,500 mass retailers such as Target, WalMart, Walgreens and Rite-Aid. The growing company has more than doubled sales annually.
