Last week, Dr. Dre made headlines when he admitted that he’d made some terrible mistakes in his past when responding to accusations that he beat his ex-wife, Michel’le, as well as his high-profile 1991 attack on TV personality Dee Barnes. Despite Michel’le playing such a major role in Dre’s legacy, at least as far as tabloid stories go, some fans were surprised to see that she wasn’t in the recent smash hit NWA biopic. But in a new interview, Michel’le claims that she never wanted to be in the film.
“I haven’t [seen it]. I didn’t even wanna get the script, but I heard I wasn’t in it…which I’m really happy about,” Michel’le explained in a recent interview with Vlad TV.
Michel’le claims that even if she had have been portrayed in the film, her storyline would’ve been reduced to something tragic.
“That’s Cube’s version of his life… Why would Dre put me in it? If they start from where they start from, I was just a quiet girlfriend who got beat up and told to sit down and shut up,” Michel’le said calmly.
She later added, “My part has no value to, probably, what they really want to talk about.”
Despite not wanting to be in it, when Michel’le was asked if she would go see the film, she replied, “Absolutely!”
It seems like Michel’le doesn’t have any hard feelings about the biopic or her past with Dre. And when Dre spoke about the alleged abuse with Rolling Stone, he explained that he regretted his violent past.
“I made some f—— horrible mistakes in my life. I was young, f—— stupid. I would say all the allegations aren’t true — some of them are. Those are some of the things that I would like to take back. It was really f—– up. But I paid for those mistakes, and there’s no way in hell that I will ever make another mistake like that again,” Dre said.
