If you live in New Jersey and see a little old lady in the bank, be careful, she might be a bank robber. Police in Willingboro, New Jersey, are looking for an elderly White woman who appears to be in her 60s for a string of bank robberies that occurred this past Friday. Early in the morning the woman walked into a Wells Fargo bank and presented a bank teller a note demanding cash. Although the woman was only armed with a green purse, the teller gave her the money without incident and she walked out of the bank. A few hours later she then went to a TD Bank in Hamilton, New Jersey, and repeated her actions, once again scoring cash from the bank teller, but she was not finished. On Saturday, the elderly woman continued her crime spree and robbed another TD Bank in the same city. Police believed she was driving a late model Honda sedan. She is described as blond, in her 60s, wearing dark sunglasses and was again carrying a green handbag

There is no word on how much money she was able to get away and police are now on a statewide granny hunt for the woman. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Matthew Donovan or Detective Frank Burger of the Hamilton Police Division’s Criminal Investigations Section at 609-581-4030 or 609-581-4010.  According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the rate of crimes committed by people 55 to 65 has decreased since the 1980s, while the population of elderly prison inmates has grown. Part of this growth among the crime rate of elderly criminals is economic circumstances and loneliness in many cases. So if grandma is broke and lonely, family members should endeavor to visit more and offer financial support to seniors to prevent grandma and grandpa bandits.
