When Lupe Fiasco is not speaking up for himself on Twitter, he is out making the world a better place. Recently, the M.U.R.A.L. foundation held a fundraiser to benefit food justice programs at Kings Bowl in the New City neighborhood of Chicago.
“M.U.R.A.L. is passionate about providing healthier food options in inner-city communities like Englewood and Austin who have high rates of food insecure residents and residents that suffer from illnesses like diabetes that can be combated by healthy eating. Our goal is to provide alternatives to fast food and conventional produce by educating youth and families via free cooking classes, mobile produce markets, grocery store tours and more. Efforts like our bowling tournament will allow us to expand and enhance the services we provide to our communities,” said Ayesha Jaco the co-founder and director of M.U.R.A.L.
A live auction was held for three items. Items included a signed Black Hawks jersey, two tickets to Lupe’s show at the House Of Blues and a black and white framed picture of Lupe at Mamby fest in Chicago this year. All of the items were auctioned off successfully at healthy prices for a great cause.
