Brooklyn, New York served as the launching point of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Neighborhood Flavor event on Saturday at The 1896. Hundreds of guests enjoyed a beautiful summer Saturday in Bushwick, Brooklyn at the spacious indoor and outdoor venue while enjoying a variety of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey cocktails, food, visual artists, DJs, live performances and even haircuts from a barber, all complimentary.

Bushwick’s own DJ Statik Selektah was the headliner for the event and brought some of his celebrity friends to help rock the crowd on his set to close out the event. Prior to the DJ and producer taking the stage, Austin Millz, Nick Catchdubs, and electro soul duo Lion Babe performed sets that had guests having to choose between grabbing a closer look at the stage or another bar trip for a sip of Tennessee Honey.

Rolling out spoke exclusively with DJ Statik Selektah prior to his performance about working with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey, his Bushwick roots, current projects and special guests taking the stage at the event.

He said, “They were looking for someone who represents Bushwick. I’ve been here for almost 12 years now and it just made sense. I’m very involved with the neighborhood working with artists here and also DJing the block parties here. My studio’s been in Bushwick for 12 years.”

DJ Statik Selektah kept the crowd engaged by playing classic Brooklyn records by Jay Z, the Notorious B.I.G. and Ol’ Dirty Bastard. He also surprised the crowd with artists CJ Fly, Smif-n-Wessun, and Young M.A.

A special moment took place when Smif-n-Wessun brought out the wife of fallen hip-hop star Sean Prince, who recited some of his lyrics while Statik Selektah played his song “Figure Four.” Another came when everyone in the building paid respect to recently fallen hip-hop star Prodigy of Mobb Deep.

Smif-N-Wessun performed many of their hits, including the classic “Sound Bwoy Bureill.” Young M.A left little room for the crowd to navigate as she performed a freestyle. She sent the crowd into a frenzy when she closed the event with “OOOUUU.”

Neighborhood Flavor is also coming to Atlanta with St. Beauty, Chicago with Mick Jenkins, Houston with LaToya Luckett and Oakland with E-40. Visit JackHoneyNF.com for more information and to RSVP for these must-attend events.
