As a Black woman, what is your superpower?

As a woman of color, my superpower is being a visionary. I am able to see beyond the visible, envision the future state, and embrace limitless possibilities for myself and others. A visionary is not about what you see, it’s about what will become.

What thoughtful or encouraging piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

I believe that my past shaped me into the woman I am today and I have lived life with no regrets. However, if I could go back to encourage and advise my younger self, I would say, “Trust yourself, speak up for yourself and be confident enough to take risks.”

If you could thank any Black woman history maker for her contributions to society, who would it be and why?

I would thank Oprah Winfrey because she branched out into an industry that was not color friendly, woman-friendly, or weight friendly and dominated it. I appreciate the precedence that she has established and Oprah exemplifies what can be achieved with confidence, discipline and direction as a risk-taker.

What are your thoughts on taking risks? Making mistakes?

Playing to win requires being a risk-taker. Risks are nothing more than challenges that are designed to test our confidence. Taking risks is believing in your abilities and talents enough to see every situation as an opportunity to win or learn. The only mistakes are failing to trust yourself, not remaining teachable, and being afraid to make mistakes.

Tell us about your business and why you chose this?

I have built a business as an author and speaker that focuses on building confidence and strong personal brands for women leaders. Inspiring, motivating and educating others is a career path that chose me. Through the transparencies of my own life, I have been able to impact everyone that I have encountered. After receiving mentoring and coaching, I decided to monetize my gifts that empower others to live their best life.

What are three success habits you implement into your daily routine to maintain your success, peace of mind, etc.?

I pray and meditate daily.

I set goals and plan my day.

I surround myself with positive energy and possess positive self-talk. I tell myself it is a great and amazing day.

I smile and find a reason to laugh no matter what is going on.

Who is your biggest inspiration? Why?

My biggest inspiration is my mother because of her courage, strength and positive outlook. She has consistently proven that there is nothing that can’t be obtained, achieved or conquered. Once you make up your mind that it will happen, it does happen.

What are the three most important factors in being a successful woman?

Discipline and direction.

Confidence and courage.

Integrity and ingenuity.
