Why we salute her: Simply put, Dr. Sylvia Trent-Adams has quite the impressive résumé. Currently serving as the deputy surgeon general, Trent-Adams is a well-respected global health leader. This Hampton University graduate began her career in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service in 1992, and at every level has shattered expectations — in the process becoming a worthy role model for future generations within the public health space.
