Rihanna shed tears during an emotional and happy reunion with her physical education teacher from her hometown in Barbados during the 2019 Cricket World Cup in the United Kingdom.
The Barbadian beauty, cloaked in an all-white outfit and sporting auburn-tinted braids that cascaded past her shoulders, was visibly emotional as she hugged former P.E. teacher Roddy Estwick.
According to The Blast, Estwick is now one of the coaches for the West Indies Cricket team during the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup popping off in Wales and England from May through July 2019. Since Rihanna had already moved to London, this was the ideal time to catch up with one of her favorite teachers.
“I came here to see the match and was cheering West Indies to a victory,” Rihanna told Barbados Today.
“But I also wanted to see Mr. Estwick. He made a lasting impact on my life and he really offered great advice to me and many others when we were at school at Combermere. I just wanted to let everyone know what he meant to me in my development and what he did for us back at school in Barbados.”
The teary hug was first posted by the Jamaican Observer and can be seen below. Afterward, Estwick shared his memories with the ICC of that little girl he remembers as simply Robyn Fenty who grew up to become the international icon now known as Rihanna.
"Everybody calls her Rihanna but I know her as Robyn Fenty."
