Innovation has never been an issue for Lil Bike, who earned his moniker while hustling from a bicycle. Unsurprisingly, he is leaving all the haters in the dust since signing with the esteemed independent label, TIG Records in 2018. With the release of “Behind Me,” the Monroe, Louisiana-born rapper is flexing in his now adopted environs of Atlanta.
The video finds the social media sensation enjoying scenic views from the comforts of luxurious hotel rooms and when he hits the streets, he does so in style. Tucked inside an all-black Mercedes-Benz truck with the vixen to match (Jasamine Banks, the infamous cucumber challenge winner is front and center), Lil Bike hits corners in and around downtown Atlanta, apparently like he does pretty much every time he cruises the streets.
“The video was freestyled,” he told rolling out exclusively, hours before the release of the video to the public. “We were just having a good time and being free.”
As evidenced by the catchy hook:
Think I signed with Grand Hustle cause I took the s— straight to the TIP
Big boogers on my wrist, new belize my s— neat cause I’m TIG
Got my hater blockers on, my Versace got me feelin’ like I’m BIG
You n—– tryna clone, I can see what’s goin’ on… behind me…
While his rise is apparent and he is clearly enjoying a wave of success, Lil Bike takes time to remind all the people who doubted him that he has arrived. His inbox is full. His DMs are on fire. He has moved on and left all the unnecessary distractions behind.
