As a woman historymaker, what do you want your legacy to be?
As the co-founder of Black Music Month [June], I want my legacy to be that I was a devoted servant and ambassador of our amazing culture. [I am] always using my life force to make others aware of the potency of Black music and that of those, past, present and future who create and promote it. Black music is a trendsetting, multibillion-dollar entity, that is also a universal language that informs all aspects of living. I serve Black music with every fiber in my being.
In terms of self-care, what three things can women do to preserve themselves for a healthy present and future?
Put your mask on first. As nurturers, we take care of our children, men, families, often putting them first and ourselves last.
Don’t be afraid to love yourself and others. You will blossom and radiate. Even if you have been hurt, leave yourself open to the possibility of meaningful and passionate love.
Give thanks for the blessings. Be fearless about the things you want out of life. Develop your plans of action and execute [them].
