Singer Josh Levi inspired by ‘rock stars’ like Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz

How has this new way of life impacted your creativity as an artist?

It’s put me more in touch with my emotions, which as an artist I benefit from. Sometimes that’s great and sometimes that’s stressful. [WIth] all the pandemics, racism, COVID and all these things, it’s just like overwhelming. I would definitely say it put me further in touch with my emotions, which I usually run away from. It’s made me more creative, more inspired, a better writer and maybe a better singer.

What artists have inspired your craft?

I love rock stars in every sense of the word. To me, a rock star is always traditional or within the lines of what that has to mean. It’s [people] like James Brown, obviously Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Prince. I see Beyoncé as a rock star. [It’s] just people that break the rules and push the envelope without batting an eye. I do like some of the more traditional rock people like Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana.
