Chef Jojo is the daughter of the famous St. Louis soul food restaurateur JT Brown. Bringing the original flavors of St. Louis to every home in America is her mission. While the Atlanta-based celebrity chef and entrepreneur has been cooking her way to the top for the past 25 years, she credits her success to her grandmother. “While I have catered for numerous celebrities and athletes, including Ricky Smiley, Tyler Perry, Wiz Khalifa, TI, 50 Cent, Ice Cube, LL Cool J, and many more, I owe my success to the years I spent in the kitchen with my grandmother.”
What is your profession and what are your responsibilities?
I am a celebrity caterer and founder and CEO of JoJo’s Seasoning. On a day-to-day basis, I oversee the overall operations of the company, implement its short- and long-term strategies as well as its vision and mission.
As a Black woman, what do you consider your superpowers to be?
My superpowers as a Black woman are my strength, ability to quickly solve problems and ability to empathize with individuals while simultaneously leading.
What thoughtful or encouraging piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
To live life fearless[ly] with no regrets, love unconditionally, and to live in the moment.
