DETROIT, MI – A sold-out crowd at the Garden Theatre in Detroit and a virtual audience attended the 10th annual Multicultural Media Luncheon Automotive Industry Awards September 23rd. The event featured a keynote from Detroit native, Jemele Hill, Emmy Award winning journalist, and host of the Spotify podcast, Jemele Hill is Unbothered. Hill sat down with Khary Turner, executive director, The Coleman A. Young Foundation and her keynote focused on “The Importance of Social Justice in Corporate America”.
General Motors and their Cadillac received two distinguished awards during this year’s celebration of multicultural marketing and storytelling in the automotive industry: The Visionary Award for Design and Engineering was awarded to Gerald Johnson, EVP, Global Manufacturing and Cadillac received the Multicultural TV Commercial of the Year Award.
The Multicultural Media Luncheon Automotive Industry Awards was created and produced by Cheryl Parks Ajamu, Founder & CEO of The Ajamu Group, LLC., based in Southfield, Michigan. The luncheon honors communities of color for their achievements in the automotive industry. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Haitian charity Project Medishare and Orchards Children’s Services, a foster care and adoption agency in Michigan.
