When reports came out about the Atlanta Falcons rolling out the red carpet for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, the presentation was pristine in every detail.
Josina Anderson reported the Falcons brought in the who’s who of Atlanta to the team’s presentation, including members of the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Braves, Quavo and Lil Baby.
“We want him home,” Anderson reported was the message to Watson, a Gainesville, Georgia, native, whose hometown is just minutes from the Falcons’ practice facility.
OutKast rapper Big Boi also tweeted his desire to have Watson become Atlanta’s new quarterback.
“@deshaunwatson Lemon Pepper on me @AtlantaFalcons #ATLiens mane,” Big Boi tweeted.
In his last season in 2020 with the Texans, Watson completed 382 of 544 passes for 4,823 yards, 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also ran for 444 yards and three touchdowns on 90 carries.
Watson didn’t play in the 2021 season as 22 allegations were made against him, claiming the three-time Pro Bowler sexually assaulted multiple massage parlor workers. On March 11, the courts determined not to pursue any criminal charges on any of the 22 allegations.
“When you stand on the TRUTH, the LORD will FREE you!” Watson tweeted after the decision was made not to pursue criminal charges.
