Many public figures were honored during the 2022 Atlanta Black Pride Weekend‘s annual Pure Heat Community Festival at Piedmont Park over the Labor Day Weekend.
This year’s honorees included Jussie Smollett, Kandi Burruss, Joseline Hernandez, Natalie Nunn and Stasha Sanchez. Smollet received the first Alvin Ailey Trailblazer Award. Burruss received the Humanitarian award; Nunn got the Pioneer award and Sanchez received the ICON award.
Event performances included Blueface, Chrisean Rock, Jhonni Blaze, Damez and Dyllon Burnside. Special guests were Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, Zeus Network CEO Lemuel Plummer, Bobby Lytes, Ballistic Beats, Miss Lawrence and Thomas Mackey.
A portion of the proceeds from the weekend’s activities will go to The Vision Community Foundation to benefit homeless LGBTQ+ youth and those affected with HIV/AIDs.
