It’s been said that emcees from Chicago don’t need an A&R because they are already seasoned simply from the grind of being an artist from Chicago.

With one listen to hometown favorite Vice Verse, you’ll realize that he is the perfect example of this sentiment.

Currently putting it down with the emcee collective, Dirty Slums, which features Slum Village, Vice and the crew have been busy releasing a steady slew of new music over the years. Recently, the collective put out “Young RJ Presents Seventh Son” and “Dirty Slums 1 & 2.” Future projects include Slum Village’s upcoming album Evolution, and the posthumous J. Dilla project titled “Yancey Boys Sunset Blvd.”

But the moment belongs to Vice as he releases his newest offering, simply titled, “V2.” With acclaimed producer Young RJ handling the lion’s share of production duties, there’s a cohesiveness present that is missing from a lot of current albums. Features on the project include Rapper Big Pooh, J-Ivy, Twone Gabz, Focus, Joe Scudda, ILLA J and T3 of Slum Village and others. More than holding his own among such talented emcees, Vice proves again why he is one of the best at what he does.
