Money problems have been an issue in Stevie J’s life for some time now as several of his “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” cast mates have claimed that he’s living off borrowed money. Making matters worse was the fact that one of his baby’s mamas sued him, claiming he owed her more than a million dollars in unpaid child support. All of that money drama caught up to Stevie this week when he was finally arrested for still failing to pay his child support debt. Now, it appears that Stevie is finally out of jail.
As previously reported, Stevie was arrested in Georgia on June 9 for failing to pay a gargantuan debt of $1,107,412, spanning all the way back to 2001 when he originally stopped paying the $8,500 a month in child support that he was ordered to pay.
After two days in jail, TMZ reports that Stevie posted $25,000 bail on Wednesday afternoon and walked out a free man. However, his ordeal isn’t over yet. Stevie will now have to appear in front of a New York judge, where the criminal child support case originated, where he’ll be facing one count of failing to pay child support, which carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison.
We’ll have to see how everything plays out but it’s likely that by the time all is said and done in this case, Stevie won’t be bragging about mansions, buses or money anymore. –nicholas robinson
