Under the threat of rain, the Silver Room Block Party still managed to light up the South Side of Chicago with music, food, vendors and good vibes. This year’s theme was The Beautiful People, and if you were lucky enough to be in Hyde Park for the block party you would have seen beauty exemplified in so many ways. The good looks are a given, but it’s a spirit and a tone that resonates throughout the block party that is most present. Men, women, girls, and boys are welcomed with love. This is why this block party, now in its fifteenth year, has been able to travel from Wicker Park to Hyde Park without missing a beat. Love is the thread that is woven through and through. Smiles were plentiful and laughter was abundant.

We asked a few people what they loved about the Silver Room Block Party. Here is what they had to say:

“The people, the vibe, the music, the food, the love, everything.” – Kyle Santillian of WGCI

“The Silver Room Block Party epitomizes everything about #summertimechi. No violence, just people, good music, food and fun.” – Karen Mabry

“Black business, Black music, Black love, Black life and Black beauty.” -Thomas Willis

The sentiment seems pretty universal. It is no wonder why the Silver Room Block Party fought off the rain and brought us yet another beautiful day in Chicago.

Take a look at a few pictures from the block party below.
