Trey Songz ‘Chapter V’ Album Review

Chapter V is Trey Songz, fifth studio album in which the R&B ladies man addresses ladies, love and sex.  Trey Songz is sweating  the sheets within the first minute of Chapter V.  As he slowly brings you into his bedroom appropriate album, Songz uses a little play on words in “Dive In” and then immediately brings you into the main event with “Panty Wetter”.

For old school R&B lovers, this album will seem like the new edition of R. Kelly’s 12 Play.  Those who have been fans of Trey Songz since Just Gotta Make It, will immediately revert back to Songz’s third studio album, Ready.

Ne-Yo was precise when he described Trey Songz and his currrent state of music.  What some artists don’t understand is that fans don’t dictate your music content- the artist does.  Fans that fell in love with the original Trey aren’t running to the store looking for an album to make love to.  Quite frankly, his new fans aren’t even old enough to appreciate the true essence of R&B, so they will love Trey with or without the graphic, inappropriate language.

In Chapter V, Trey Songz talks about the consequences of his sexy image.  It’s hard to keep a woman when video vixens are constantly popping out of nowhere describing your sexual excursions.  It’s easy to confirm that his lyrics come from a sincere place. Think about it- when’s the last time you’ve heard of him actually being in a relationship?

Songz shows off his tough side on this album in songs like “Playing Hard”, “Hail Mary”, and “Don’t Be Scared”. He also brings in rappers Jeezy , Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, T.I., Meek Mill, and Diddy on a few songs.

Major props to Trey Songz for not givng into the pressure to sell records by switiching over to pop, but Trey Songz can’t help but to add the terribly corny song “2 Reasons”. Clearly the radio songs catch the drunken club crowd, but i’m not impressed.

While Trey addresses the ladies on Chapter V, we can’t help but to wonder if he was secretly talking about Lauren London.

As you listen, take a look at a few sexy pictures from Trey Songz.
