Popeyes is all out of chicken sandwiches.

What in the name of hot sauce is going on here?

On the official Twitter site for Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, top executives announced Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019, that they are all out of the new chicken sandwiches that ignited a nationwide craze. The sandwiches created a demand that saw long lines wrapped around the building at many of their stores.

Popeyes simply could not keep up with the demand, and now they are completely out.

“Y’all. We love that you love The Sandwich. Unfortunately, we’re sold out (for now),” the site said.

But don’t cough up a chicken wing. The sandwich that had people lining up around the block is coming back soon, according to Popeyes. This time, Popeyes vows that when it returns, it will be for good.

The fact that it is coming back worries some social commentators and pundits.

In order to learn when the chicken sandwich returns, Popeyes said you can download their app and turn on push notifications.

As had been widely reported on social media accounts nationwide, the new Popeyes chicken sandwiches ignited a Twitter battle between Popeyes, Chick-fil-A and Wendy’s, with fans judging which chicken sandwich is the best.

Chick-fil-A and Wendy’s are probably privately laughing at Popeyes’ misfortunes. But publicly, social media members are laughing. Check out some of the responses below.
